By now most of you must have thought about going away from Google, Bing or Yahoo for your internet searching primarily because of privacy reasons. If you can browse through and search for gadgets or groceries in a shopping mall or a grocery store without someone watching you constantly and keeping track of what you bought, when you bought it and how much you paid for it, then you should be able to search for anything you want over the internet without someone judging you.

Unfortunately with google’s all interconnected services, your privacy is at risk. Google saves everything that you’ve searched for in your history and keeps it forever until you delete it but it will stay in google’s backups. You can turn off this feature by going into settings but you’ll still be tracked, click here to find out how.

Fortunately there are good alternatives to Google that’s secure and it’s popularity is growing fast. One of them is DuckDuckGo. The biggest draw for DuckDuckGo is that they do not track you. Not only that the founder (Gabriel Weinberg) also claims that DuckDuckGo’s search results are better than Google’s or any other search engines that we are familiar with.

So try out DuckDuckGo for a week and stay protected. Check out some of their goodies here and also check their about page.
